Orbi System Connection with a Range Extender

An Orbi mehs system consists of more than two devices. One (router) will connects to the modem with cable and other (satellite) connects with the router node. You can also link range extender with Orbi router, here you will learn all instructions to do that. Start with checking the Orbi settings;

Ensure Orbi System Stability 

The router configuration and settings can be checked from the interface of the router. It is important to connect extender to Orbi router device.

·       Connect a computer or laptop to the router via LAN cable. Open the browser and type in the IP address 192.168.1.1.

·       By searching the IP, you will get to the interface orbilogin page. Enter the username and password, you will access the interface.

Check all settings and enabled features and start the range extender to Orbi mesh router connection.

Link with Orbi Router Network 

The Orbi router will link to the extender via cable as well as via WPS method. We will provide instructions for both.

WPS/Sync 

Start with powering on extender and Orbi router. Then you find and press the WPS/Sync button on the router and extender. First, you have to press the button on the extender and then within 2 minutes press the router Sync button. Both the device will connect with each other in a few minutes. Then you can start the configuration process.

LAN Cable

If you want to connect the extender with the Orbi via cable, then use the Ethernet cable. Place the extender near to the router and connect the cable end to extender Ethernet port. The other end will connect to the router WAN port. Now, turn on the devices by plugging the extender into power outlet and start the configuration.

Configure Range Extender 

To reach in the interface is via IP address. The IP is given on the label or in the user manual of the extender. You just have to connect computer to the network. Search the IP address on the web browser of the computer. You will get to the interface login page where you must enter the default admin login credentials.

By using the username and password, you will log in to the interface and can manage the settings. Into the interface, you have to open the Settings in the interface and change the password. Also if you are seeing an Orbi pink light then you can apply these tips.  

Tips and Settings

Change Password 

Open the web browser and access the interface using the IP address like 192.168.0.1. Go to the Settings > Wireless Networks > Select SSID > enter the new username and password. Then, you must SAVE the settings.

Reboot/Restart 

To reboot the device, you can use the power button on the extender, by pressing it twice the device will restart. There is one more way to restart the device. Just plug out the power adapter and plug it in again to restart the device.  

Factory Reset 

Reset by pressing the RESET button and hold it for 10 seconds. After releasing the button, the factory reset Orbi process will start. In few seconds, all settings and data will be deleted. Then you should configure the device via interface.

Change Admin Password 

Open the web browser and access the interface using the admin default username and password. Go to the Settings > Admin Settings > Select username or password field to change > enter the new username and password. Then you must SAVE the settings.
